Summary
The Resilience Lab is an interdisciplinary research lab on environmental changes. It was established in June 2025 within Capital Fund Management (CFM). Our mission is to produce, synthesize, and disseminate scientific knowledge on the impacts of environmental changes and the resilience strategies of socio-economic systems. Our objective is to inform CFM's medium- and long-term strategy and contribute more broadly to the scientific debate on these critical issues.
Why a Resilience Lab?
Like any company, CFM is already facing the first signs of environmental crises, from heatwaves in Paris to the risk of flooding in London. Through the Resilience Lab, our ambition is to develop expertise on these issues and to critically examine the future of the company's operations, and more broadly, the economy in which we participate. As a financial player in international markets, CFM's scope of interest is both local and global, micro and macro, making it a prime location for observation and analysis.
What is our field of study?
We want to conduct our research on the major contemporary environmental upheavals: climate change, biodiversity loss, resource depletion, and environmental pollution.
Beyond biophysical changes, we want to better understand the impacts of these transformations on socio-economic systems and the possible levers for adaptation available to organizations, starting with our own!
Among the themes we will explore in the coming months are:
-
Climate projections, their results and limitations, and their uses by private and public actors
-
The macroeconomic impacts of global warming, measurement techniques, and potential discrepancies between studies
-
Internal and external factors contributing to organizational resilience in the face of environmental crises, such as their risk culture, beyond their mere exposure to hazards
-
The state of metal resources under the pressure of increasing demand, and the differences between stock and flow risks in supply
